A Long Island mom was charged with reckless endangerment Wednesday after lighting a BBQ grill inside her home, subjecting her family to carbon monoxide poisoning.
Suffolk County police said Marie Claudia-Blaise, 43, was using the grill to heat the family's Brentwood home after running out of heating oil.
Cops went to the house around 4 a.m. after a man called 911 to report a woman had passed out.
Officers quickly determined the family was suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Officers found Blaise and her son Claudys, 13, unconscious and her 10-year-old daughter Francysca, semi-conscious.
Her husband, Yves Blaise, 49, and another daughter Frandia, 16, were able to leave the house on their own, cops said.
All were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment, but Marie Claudia Blaise was later taken to Nassau University Medical Center for further treatment.
