George Carlin opens my eyes from the grave

So last night I watched George Carlin's last HBO special It's Bad For You and towards the end the late comic had some very strong words about American rights.  Carlin said (not a verbatim quote) that we don't have rights in this country, we have privileges and offered as proof the 1942 incarceration of over 160,000 innocent Japanese Americans into concentration camps who were detained without habeus corpus, access to a lawyer, charges of crimes, etc.  Today I see the same thing happening to certain Arab Americans as well as to Brad Manning (and he's white!) and feel the stinging truth of Carlin's observation.  We have rights until they become too inconvenient to the government, which is why the Patriot Act is still alive and well.  Thinking we have rights is a lie, it's bullshit that we believe and it's bad for you.
